On Super Tuesday, I wrote a diary declaring that I was still voting for Edwards. A heated discussion ensued on what was my first recommended diary.
Today, I feel the same, and here's why:
Neither Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) nor Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) voted on the bill, though Obama did vote earlier in the day to support removing telecom immunity.
Hillary is too busy to care or really wants the telecoms to have immunity (money talks)? Not my candidate. And Obama is too afraid to actually vote on the bill itself lest it come back to bite him in the ass? Then he's too afraid to be President. No wonder John Edwards feels the way he does and has yet to endorse either.
As for the rest of the spineless Democrats who voted for or refused to vote against this bill, you should hang your heads in shame, and you should be very afraid come November 2008. Not only have you disrespected the Constitution of the United States of America, you have spit on your constituents in the name of what you believe is political expediency.
Ok. I'm sure you don't care too much about a few shreds of the Constitution with all that blood already on your hands. Why don't you just go ahead and pass another energy bill loaded with subsidies for voters in Iowa, without considering that it might actually increase our dependence on foreign oil in the long run, and meanwhile cave on repealing tax breaks for oil companies; and just give Bush the money to keep sending our fellow Americans--our children, our brothers, sisters, and neighbors--off to die for that foreign oil, but make sure you stall on that so it will look like you care.
I had hope that Congress wouldn't give immunity to corporate criminals, but they took that hope and shat on it and threw it back in my face. The message is this: as long as you give enough money to Congress, you can get away with anything, even if that means violating the tenets of the Constitution and the laws Congress itself has made.
You, Harry Reid, can go f**k yourself. This is the icing on the f**king cake. Maybe John McCain is right; with people like you "leading" the Senate, we may very well be in Iraq for the next 100 10,000 years!
It is now clear as day that Harry Reid and his fellow jelly-spined Democrats are the enablers. Hey Congress, want to see if your approval ratings can go any lower??? Keep ignoring us. Keep supporting Bush in his destruction of the America we love. Do this, and you can bet your sweet ass I will remember come election day. I know you think people don't care what you do, and you're just assuming you have a free ride because people are going to blindly vote Democrat in 2008. What you don't know is that I know many of you are just as bad for this country as Bush; unlike the people who really don't care, I vote, but I don't follow party lines.
