This would be snark, but it's nary fringe.
Question: How do you get these people to support Obama's health care plan?
Answer: Several options really...
a) Tell them Saddam the health insurance companies are hiding Weapons of Mass Destruction.
b) Tell them Saddam the health insurance companies are working with al Qaeda.
c) Tell them Obama's health care plan is about taking down Saddam the dictatorial health insurance companies and spreading democracy.
d) Distract them by agreeing to extend the Bush tax cuts (they blissfully don't know that they favor the rich).
e) Label them as unpatriotic America-haters for questioning the President on this very important health security issue.
f) Unequivocally declare that if health insurance reform fails, al Qaeda will win.
g) If all else fails, spy on them, publicly humiliate them, put them on the do-not-fly list, and if worse comes to worse, extradite them and waterboard them.
Obviously, the last suggestion is the only truly snarky option (or is it?), because all the others have been employed successfully under the last (mis)administration to convince Republicans to support whatever the President says and sterilize the opposition's efforts to oppose the President.
So now the tables have turned, and perhaps it's time to label the opposition to Obama's health care plan as unpatriotic, America-hating, potential terrorists who don't care about spreading democracy or--more importantly--finding the weapons of mass destruction the health insurance companies must be providing. These people obviously don't want democracy to work, ergo they must want al Qaeda to win.
